For gamblers, it is a fun and exciting time where 68 teams battle it out for the championship title. Our March Madness Betting Tutorial and Guide will help you navigate betting on this NCAA college basketball tournament.

In general, learning the basics on how to bet on March Madness is fairly easy. This is because there are only 3 types of bets to make and most are self-explanatory. In addition, to straight betting on each game, there is of course the famous March Madness Bracket. However, we will go over in our next basketball betting tutorial.

In the meanwhile, here is what typical basketball betting odds look like for college basketball.

TEAM Money Line Point Spread Totals
Gonzaga -130 -2.5   -110 o157.5   -110
Baylor +110 +2.5  -110 u157.5   -110

In this tutorial, we will go over how to use them and place a bet on each of these. Before we start, note that the the “-110 at the end of the point spread and the totals is the big. This means that the sportsbook charges a 10% commission to take your bet. If the number was “-105” it would mean the commission is 5%.

March Madness Betting Guide

March Madness Betting GuideThe 2022 NCAA basketball tournament will take place between March 13 and April, 2022. According to basketball betting websites, the top 3 schools to watch out for are Gonzaga, Kentucky and Arizona. However, just because they have the best odds does not mean they are the best team to bet on.  Let’s take a look a look at some of the type of bets available for March Madness.

Betting on the Point Spread – Point spread betting is estimating the gap between the two teams on the scoreboard and betting on it. For example, the point spread between Gonzaga and Baylor is 2.5. This means that if you bet on the Gonzaga spread, they must win by 2.5 points to win your bet. On the other hand, if you bet on the Baylor spread it is the opposite. This means that they cannot lose by more than 2.5 points to win your bet.

Betting on the Totals or Over/Under – This is another easy college basketball bet to understand. You are betting that the total final score will be over or under a certain number.

Betting on the Money Line – This is another popular way to bet on basketball as you are gambling on who will win the game outright. However, his type of wager is more costly if you bet on the favorite team. In this example Gonzaga is the favorite team and you must risk $130 to win $100. On the other hand, if you bet on Baylor, you risk $100 to win $110.
