Pennsylvania Gambling Revenue Achieves Record Levels in 2022

The gambling industry in Pennsylvania grew a lot in 2022 due to the state’s permissive environment. As a result, Pennsylvania gambling revenue reached almost half a billion dollars in year-over-year increase.

According to gambling and auto racing news, Pennsylvania was one of the top gaming destinations in the US in 2022. Its combined gambling revenue went up to $5.21 billion last year. Also, they attributed the increase to slots, sports betting, fantasy games, video gaming terminals, and table games.

Casinos and other gambling establishments paid $2.12 billion to the state. It was an increase from $1.93 billion in 2021. Also, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board launched a self-exclusion initiative for online gaming. The board supervises 16 casinos in the state, along with online casinos, sports betting, retail betting sites, and game terminals.

The income from table games came in at $990m, an increase of 7.1 percent from the previous year. In addition, earnings of $401 million were generated through sports betting, up 18% year-over-year.

As the official spokesman for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, Dough Harbach recently stated about the industry’s growing popularity in the state. He thinks that the biggest Pennsylvania online casinos are reaping the benefits of this trend toward online gambling as more and more people become accustomed to and comfortable with making online wagers. In addition, access to several casinos in an area where competition is intense also seems to play a role.

Pennsylvania’s gambling industry fared well in 2022, but income from fantasy games, which had previously done well, dropped by 23.9 percent to $22 million.

There seems to be no obvious explanation for it. However, Harbach suggested the rise in popularity of sports betting may be to blame. Korean sportsbooks can learn something from them.
